ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - The United Arab Emirates is canceling all the debt Iraq owes to the tiny oil-rich Gulf state.

Emirates' official news agency quotes the UAE president as saying he will cancel $4 billion in debt owed by Iraq.

The announcement came as Iraq's prime minister was visiting the Emirates.

From CNN

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- Dubai has forgiven the nearly $7 billion Baghdad owes it, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced Sunday.

Saddled with debt, no nation can stand long, before a dictator rises. What France did to Germany in the 1920s.

Who came to visit Bush less than two weeks ago??

And two weeks later, the Iraqi Prime Minister visits the UAE and, poof ... debt erased.

A link? I don't know. It is much clearer than any other, but .... it could have been leprechauns.

Of course Bush will not get credit for this, but that doesn't matter - he knows what he did and future presidents will have the portfolio to also see what was done. What little minded munchkins think is incidental to helping Iraq become stable and more free.
