China = Genocide in Darfur

Just like the French MORAL HIGH ROAD against war in Iraq, which was in truth, a road covered in blood money for oil, China sucks up all the oil from Sudan, has signed on to Khartoum's program - stability = oil = China Happy.

Whatever it takes. Genocide in Sudan = China gets oil and is happy.

It is very nearly that simple. Those sorts who push for action in Sudan, will in most cases, be on the other side of action against Iraq, on the side of the French and Chinese who opposed action.

Yet this time, they are on the right side, and I cannot understand how. Their moral clocks are so out of whack, it is near mind-blowing that they get this.

The US needs to take stronger action, and push for world condemnation, push for a UN military action into Sudan, as Bishop Tutu has called for, and they must do it now.

Each day hundreds of lives are lost. Each day families ripped apart, never to be repaired. Each day, it is the end of the world for thousands of people - one way or another, and the UN does NOTHING but talk.

Talk = hundreds dead.

Military action = hundreds dead.

In both cases, innocents will die, BUT at the end of one is freedom. At the end of the other, is continued enslavement.

3 Books

Reasonably good books and reasonably quick reads. Unlike a text you must study for a quiz or exam, you can skip a word or two and not lose the main point of the chapters:

Not On Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond. Don Cheadle and John Prendergast. Hyperion books.

Children at War. P. W. Singer. Univ Calif Press.

They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky: The True Story of three Lost Boys from Sudan. Benson Deng, Alephonsion Deng, Benjamin Ajak. Public Affairs.

And just to be clear - a great deal of what is happening in the Sudan IS RELIGIOUS.

The fact the UN says otherwise is bullshit - they set up a committee to investigate the claims of genocide and reached the startling conclusion that it was NOT genocide. Amazing that any sentient being still thinks the UN is useful.

The fact they refuse to accept that it is genocide and religiously driven, is evidence of their uselessness.

Those who argue to the contrary, will ultimately find themselves complicit in the genocide.

Weather, Taxes, UN and Genocide

The Guardian, November 17, 2007 had an article titled: UN Scientists urge carbon tax to fight global warming.

From plane flights to light bulbs - taxes to fight global warming. And who will be most impacted - the poor and middle classes. Al Bore will be able to continue his globe trotting, as will Google Billionaire, Microsoft Billionaire, John Kerry billionaire ... they will even have the cash left over for some light bulbs.

Based on what evidence should we enact a tax?

The evidence that exists all falls within a reasonable and statistical standard or norm for weather changes. No evidence exists to counter this. So based upon feeling, emotions, we should enact a world wide tax - impacting industrialized countries the most, and the US specifically - all because someone feels that a tax is warranted based on highly emotive language.

Listening to the world wide spokesman for global warming - El Nino weather is the evidence.

It has always appealed to me - direct world attention at an issue that is non-existent, or if it exists is within the norms of change - rather than toward issues of international importance and moral relevance - the genocides of Africa. If the UN got off its collective ass and acted with as much emotion (crying and banging on tables and podiums, held conventions and conferences around the globe) they might actually save one life rather than failing in Darfur and ignoring genocide when it occurs.
