Strange Things Happen in the Porta Potty

There are weird people everywhere and even if Russia has more than its fair share, and Germany a whole nut box of fruit loops, the US has some serious nut cases also.

Poopy peeper explains why he's not a perv

Monday, June 27, 2011 3:39:55 EDT PM
Luke Chrisco. (Eagle County Sheriff/HO)

A man accused of hiding out in porta-potties to watch women doing their business at a Colorado yoga festival told a local TV station the experience wasn't as bad as people think.

"It seems terrible, but it didn't actually smell that bad or anything," Luke Chrisco told FOX31 Denver during an interview from jail.

"There's bacteria in there, but to me it's just normal ... we all have bodily fluids," he told the station. "I still would have done it even if it smelled a little weird, because where there is muck, there is gold."

Police arrested the 30-year-old man after a woman at a Boulder yoga festival on June 17 noticed "movement in the tank" of a porta-potty, investigators said.

A nearby man confirmed that he saw a man in the waste tank, covered in a tarp. He locked himself inside the toilet tank, until he flung the door open and ran.

A security guard tried to stop the feces-covered man, but he got away.

Police said Chrisco was arrested nearly a week later, on Thursday, as he panhandled at a gas station.

Chrisco admitted that he moved from the waste tank of a vacant porta-potty to a "busy one" to watch women above him.

"I was at the yoga festival, doing a little bit of yoga, and I'm just seeing all these goddesses," Chrisco said. "It seems crazy, but I just felt like I was being blessed by their energy, even though it was unintentional."

Chrisco admitted to police that he has spied on as many as 200 women, including through bathroom peepholes at businesses and restaurants. Police said they contacted business owners to seal the holes.

Chrisco is charged with unlawful sexual contact and criminal invasion of privacy.

Mickey Must Die! Save the Mice.

Report: Saudi Cleric Says Mickey Mouse 'Must Die'

Tuesday , September 16, 2008
FOX News

He may have survived the battle with the brooms in “Fantasia,” but now Mickey Mouse has to contend with Islam.

Calling the loveable Disney rodent “one of Satan’s soldiers,” Sheikh Muhammad Munajid said household mice and their animated counterparts must be rubbed out, the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

"Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to Islamic law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases."

Munajid, a former diplomat at the Saudi embassy in Washington D.C., made the remarks on Arab television network al-Majd TV after he was asked to give Islam’s teaching on mice.

And Mickey wasn’t alone. Munajid also mentioned Jerry from “Tom and Jerry” fame is on his list of “impure” cartoon mice.

Fatwa - What are they and boy are some of those religious leaders nutty

In a 2000 Fatwa titled “The Transmitted and Sensory Proofs of the Rotation of the Sun and Stillness of the Earth”, Saudi Arabian Grand Mufti Sheikh Ibn Baaz asserted that the earth was flat and disk-like and that the sun revolved around it. He had insisted that satellite images to the contrary were nothing but a Western conspiracy against the Islamic world.

In 1988, publication of Salman Rushdie’s novel “The Satanic Verses” led Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini to issue a fatwa against Rushdie, with a huge bounty for his death. This triggered several attacks on the novel’s translators, publishers and booksellers, including the murder of Japanese translator Hitoshi Igarashi. Millions of Muslims around the world who had never read a single line of the book, and who had never even met Rushdie before, wanted him dead. Interesting fact, 24% of Iranians at the time couldn’t even read.

"Fatwa: Emoticons are Un-Islamic," from the Jawa Report, November 12, 2008:

"Emoticons are forbidden because of its imitation to Allah’s creatures whether it is original or mixture or even deformed one and since the picture is the face and the face is what makes the real picture then emoticons which represent faces that express emotions then all that add up to make them Haram."

Another fatwa states the following:

"A woman should not use these images when speaking to a man who is not her mahram, because these faces are used to express how she is feeling, so it is as if she is smiling, laughing, acting shy and so on, and a woman should not do that with a non-mahram man.

It is only permissible for a woman to speak to men in cases of necessity, so long as that is in a public chat room and not in private correspondence."

Polio is actually increasing in India, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Why? Because an anti-polio fatwa by anti-Western clerics forbid Pakistani children from immunizations, because the clerics are saying the vaccine is a conspiracy to make Muslims sterile. Ironically, it’s the clerics’ plans that would produce this result, as dead/paralytic kids don’t breed all that much.

In 2007, the former dean of Islamic law at al-Azhar University in Cairo issued a fatwa that nudity during sexual intercourse invalidates a marriage between husband and wife. Debate was immediate. Suad Saleh, head of the women’s department of Al-Azhar’s Islamic studies, pleaded for “anything that can bring spouses closer to each other” and Islamic scholar Abdel Muti concurred, saying “Nothing is prohibited during marital sex, except of course sodomy.”

For his part, Al-Azhar’s fatwa committee chairman Abdullah Megawar backpedaled and said that married couples could see each other naked but should really cover up with a blanket during sex.

Saudi man chains his son in the basement for six years because he is 'possessed by an evil female genie'

By Michael Theodoulou
22nd July 2010
Daily Mail

A semi-comatose Saudi man has been chained in a basement apartment for more than six years because his father believes he is possessed by an evil female genie.

'When he has fits he has convulsions and his entire body twists and his eyes become completely white,' said the father of the 29-year-old man who has been identified only as Turki.

'Then the voice of a woman can be heard coming from him.'

When Turki first began behaving bizarrely, his father took him to local Muslim clerics to recite the Koran over him.

'But most of them became scared when they heard the female voice telling them that she was a royal jinn (genie) and that no-one can exorcise her unless Turki dies,' his father said.

One cleric advised him to shackle his son’s arms and legs in chains and read the Koran to him.

'We did this. My son became quiet but is totally unaware of what is happening around him. He does not talk and is now unable to harm anyone,' Turki’s father told Arab News, an English language Saudi daily.

A Saudi family last year took a 'genie' to court, accusing it of theft and harassment.

The jinn was said to have terrified the children by throwing stones, stealing mobile phones and speaking in male and female voices.

Turki lives in a tiny, two-room basement apartment with his impoverished mother and her three other children in the holy city of Mecca. They survive on £150 a month from social security.

His parents divorced before he was 'possessed'.

Turki’s father claimed he himself was afflicted by a jinn at the age of nine and suffered for more than four decades until it was exorcised by a cleric.

'I used to see a woman who would at times appear very beautiful and at times extremely ugly,' he said.

On some occasions she was 'surrounded by fire' and on others appeared 'with animal limbs'.

A Saudi human rights activist and professor in Sharia (Islamic law) who visited Turki found him to be in a 'semi-coma'.

Muhammad Al-Suhali said Turki 'did not know what was going on around him. He could not eat, drink or use the toilet without the help of others'.

The professor added that when started to read some Koranic verses, Turki became furious and shook until he nearly fell out of his bed.

'When I stopped reciting, he became quiet again but was distant and unaware of what was happening,' Suhali told Arab News.

He praised Turki’s young wife for staying with him despite his frightening condition.

Suhali called on Saudi Ministry of Social Affairs to provide the family with better accommodation and to include Turki in its social security programme.

Win a soccer game by more than five points and you lose, Ottawa league says

By Terrine Friday June 1, 2010 – 6:05 am
The National Post
Canada

In yet another nod to the protection of fledgling self-esteem, an Ottawa children’s soccer league has introduced a rule that says any team that wins a game by more than five points will lose by default.

The Gloucester Dragons Recreational Soccer league’s newly implemented edict is intended to dissuade a runaway game in favour of sportsmanship. The rule replaces its five-point mercy regulation, whereby any points scored beyond a five-point differential would not be registered.

Kevin Cappon said he first heard about the rule on May 20 — right after he had scored his team’s last allowable goal. His team then tossed the ball around for fear of losing the game.

He said if anything, the league’s new rule will coddle sore losers.

“They should be saying anything is possible. If we can get five goals really fast, well, so can the other team,” said Kevin, 17, who has played in the league for five years. “People grow in adversity, they don’t really get worse…. I think you’ll see more leadership skills being used if a losing team tries to recuperate than if they never got into that situation at all.”

Kevin’s father, Bruce Cappon, called the rule ludicrous.

“I couldn’t find anywhere in the world, even in a communist country, where that rule is enforced,” he said.

Mr. Cappon said the organization is trying to “reinvent the wheel” by fostering a non-competitive environment. The league has 3,000 children enrolled ranging in age from four to 18 years old.

“Everybody wants a close game, nobody wants blowouts, but we don’t want to go by those farcical rules that they come up with,” he said. “Heaven forbid when these kids get into the real world. They won’t be prepared to deal with the competition out there.”

Paul Cholmsky, whose four- and six-year-old boys play in the league, said the intended goal of a default-lose rule might backfire in teaching life skills.

“If there’s one team that’s consistenly dominant and one team that’s not, well, that’s life,” he said.

Mr. Cholmsky said he would be in favour of temporarily handicapping a team, for example reducing the number of players on the field, over ensuring a team loss for a high score differential.

According to the league’s new rules, coaches of stronger teams are encouraged to deter runaway games by rotating players out of their usual positions, ensuring players pass the ball around, asking players to kick with the weaker foot, taking players off the field and encouraging players to score from farther away.

Club director Sean Cale said he is disappointed a few parents are making the new soccer rule overshadow the community involvement and organizing the Gloucester club does.

“The registration fee, rergardless of the sport, does not give a parent the right to insult or belittle the organization,” he said. “It gives you a uniform, it gives you a team.”

Mr. Cale said the league’s 12-person board of directors is not trying to take the fun out of the game, they are simply trying to make it fair. The new rule, suggested by “involved parents,” is a temporary measure that will be replaced by a pre-season skill assessment to make fair teams.

“The board is completely volunteer-run and we do the best that we can to provide a good, clean, fun soccer experience for everyone,” he said.

Although parents are fuming, he said the commotion is coming from “about 1% of the parents.”

Dumb People Make Stupid Mistakes

Ok, so he should not be fired, but - dumb mistakes.  NEVER should any joke or example be used that connects shooting with any president.  It is something we should not tolerate, just as we should not tolerate the mockery of our religioous values.  Why are they 'speech' issues and not something like this?  I understand the difference - one is a symbol or icon, the other a human being, but mentioning this in a class of 8th graders is as likely to result in anyone ever contemplating it as there is a chance of me going to the moon.  More damage is done, by the destruction of our religious values, which can occur in 8th grade, and with the assistance of our children, than will ever be done by some fool speaking about angles and a president.

Some people however just cross the wrong boundaries and need to be smacked.  Perhaps 2-3 weeks unpaid leave, and he should read about the assassinations of several, and attempts on other of our presidents.  Something anyway.

Jefferson County geometry teacher uses wrong example to teach angles --- assassination of President Barack Obama

A Jefferson County teacher picked the wrong example when he used assassinating President Barack Obama as a way to teach angles to his geometry students.

Someone alerted authorities and the Corner High School math teacher was questioned by the Secret Service, but was not taken into custody or charged with any crime.

"We did not find a credible threat," said Roy Sexton, special agent in charge of Birmingham's Secret Service office. "As far as the Secret Service is concerned, we looked into it, we talked to the gentleman and we have closed our investigation."

A Corner High geometry teacher picked the wrong example, President Barack Obama, to use in a lesson on angles. The lesson resulted in a Secret Service investigation. (AP) Sexton said he generally doesn't discuss threat cases, but confirmed his office investigated the incident. No federal charges followed the probe.

The teacher was apparently teaching his geometry students about parallel lines and angles, officials said. He used the example of where to stand and aim if shooting Obama.

"He was talking about angles and said, 'If you're in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president,' " said Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class.

Efforts to reach the teacher for comment Monday were unsuccessful.

Superintendent Phil Hammonds said the teacher remains at work, and there are no plans for termination.

"We are going to have a long conversation with him about what's appropriate," Hammonds said. "It was extremely poor judgment on his part, and a poor choice of words."

Caroline Polk, the parent of a ninth-grader at the school, said she doesn't believe the teacher ought to be fired.

"We all make mistakes, and we should be able to learn from our mistakes," she said. "What he said was just wrong and inappropriate. Everyone's got their own opinions, but we have to be aware of our surroundings. At this point, it just needs to be handled in a way that it won't be repeated."

There he goes again - Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Biden, the best example

Biden mistakenly blesses Irish leader's mother

(AP) – March 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden asked for God's blessing for the late mother of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen during a White House celebration of St. Patrick's Day — except the elderly lady is very much alive.

"God rest her soul," Biden said Wednesday night as he introduced Cowen and President Barack Obama. He quickly caught himself and noted that it's Cowen's father who is no longer living. Of the prime minister's mother, Biden said, "God bless her soul."

Biden then cited the Irish proverb that "a silent mouth is sweet to hear" and yielded the podium to the president.

And once again, like Obama, who cares if he made some dumb mistake.  Then again, he is VP - what other dumb mistakes is he making that may impact us?  Yet when Bush made dumb statements, it was all about Bush.  It proved he was an idiot.  It proved he was ... Biden, quite honestly, does it all the time, much more frequently than Obama who does it regularly.

Big Heads, Little Brains

Cro Magnon skull supports theory that human brains have begun to shrink

Humans like to portray themselves as a sophisticated life form driven by brain rather than brawn. So they may be surprised by a project to reconstitute a 28,000-year-old skull from remains found in France.

This has provided evidence to support a theory that our brains have begun to shrink.

[We are shrinking.  And that does not bode well for us, given that we are all intellectual giants I suppose it will not have any effect on us for a very long while!!]

The French team that claims to have produced one of the best replicas yet of an early modern human skull say that it is 15 to 20 per cent bigger than ours. No one suggests that we are 15 to 20 per cent more stupid than Cro Magnon 1, the best preserved of five skeletons discovered in 1868 in the Cro Magnon cave in the Dordogne, because there is only a minor link between brain size and intelligence.

It may be that, rather like computers, our brains are becoming more efficient even as they grow smaller. But the project could shed light on a human evolutionary question that has divided and bemused the specialists: if indeed our heads have started to shrivel, why is this happening?

Cro Magnon 1 has been kept in the French National Museum of Natural History in Paris. He is believed to have been a well-built, elderly man about 6ft tall. Already known to scientists worldwide, Cro Magnon 1 will become even more famous next week when a mold of his skull will be shown at the American National Museum of Natural History in Washington.

The endocast was made by scanning the interior of the skull at the Quinze-Vingts Hospital in Paris to obtain a picture of the impression left by the brain on the neurocranium.

Antoine Balzeau, of the French Museum of Natural History, transformed this into a 3D image that was in turn made into a mold by a specialist software prototyping firm.

“It’s one of the most beautiful endocasts ever,” Mr Balzeau told The Times. He said that an initial assessment of Cro Magnon 1’s skull confirmed the belief that brains had grown "slightly smaller over tens of thousands of years”, reversing an earlier trend towards bigger brains.

However, he said that the cerebellum — a brain structure linked to language and concentration — appears to take up a larger proportion of the head now than in the time of Cro Magnon 1. This suggests that some parts of the brain are more “compressible” than others, he said.

Several theories have been advanced to explain the mystery of the shrinking brain. One is that big heads were necessary to survive Upper Paleolithic life, which involved cold, outdoor activities.

A second theory is that skulls developed to cope with a chewy diet of rabbits, reindeer, foxes and horses. As our food has become easier to eat, so our heads have stopped growing, according to supporters of this theory.

[Small favors.  Imagine.  We could all be walking around with heads like the Queen from Alice!]

Other experts say that with high infant mortality, only the toughest survived — and the toughest tended to have big heads.

The UN Speaks: Shhh, listen

One of the most useless, and feckless organizations (not to mention one of the most implicated organizations in the history of man in the deaths of millions) ever created (although not to diminish the utopian ideals of the late 1940s) has proven yet again why it is unworthy of our time and money -

Human role in climate change not in doubt-UN's Ban

08 Dec 2009 15:09:51 GMT

Source: Reuters

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 8 (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday that emails leaked from a British university have done nothing to undermine the United Nations' view that climate change is accelerating due to humans.

"Nothing that has come out in the public as a result of the recent email hackings has cast doubt on the basic scientific message on climate change and that message is quite clear -- that climate change is happening much, much faster than we realized and we human beings are the primary cause," he said.

Hollywood does the Obamanation

Spotting stars at the White House Correspondents dinner
By Linda Feldmann
May 10, 2009 edition
Christian Science Monitor

After all these years, I have figured out the best way to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner or at least this year’s dinner: with a 16-year-old girl.

Rebecca had an eagle eye for celebs, some of whom I would never have recognized. Ludacris? I’ve heard of him, but that’s it. But there he was on the red carpet, with his mother (smart guy!), and I wasn’t completely clueless.

Other folks were easy to recognize, but Rebecca was much better at spotting them in the crowd. There’s Owen Wilson! Will he pose for a picture with a young fan? Sure.

Same with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Eva Longoria Parker, Demi Moore, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jason Bateman, Amy Poehler, and on and on. We also tracked down Ed Westwick, the wonderfully arch Chuck Bass on “Gossip Girl,” with the help of Ana Marie Cox, Wonkette emeritus.

I hate to say this, but it was almost star overload. You’d be heading for one (I won’t name names), then you’d see someone even more cool in one instance, the stunning Padma Lakshmi of “Top Chef” — and detour over to her, lest you miss your chance.

I have two favorite memories: Rebecca spying a tall nerdy guy wearing a red bow tie and saying, “Peter Orszag! I have to say hello.” Her best friend babysits for his kids, and oh by the way, he’s President Obama’s budget director.

Favorite moment No. 2: Walking up to a friendly-looking old man and striking up a conversation about Woodrow Wilson High School here in Washington, where Rebecca goes. This man graduated from Wilson more than 60 years ago, and when I mentioned the connection, he said, “Oh, a Tiger!” and launched into the Wilson fight song.

Then he said, “I’m going to whisper a stock tip in Rebecca’s ear, and you take our picture.” OK! Eventually, Rebecca figured out who this jolly grandpa was: Warren Buffett.

Obama and Wanda Sykes killed with their post-dinner speeches. The videos are all over the web.

I have a suggestion for next year: Send all 2,000 tickets to Hollywood and let the stars divvy up the tables and decide which journalistsand politicos to invite.

Students and Teachers - Anti-US, Anti-Western, Anti- Everything.

I had dinner with someone tonight who told me about a class they were taking with a professor who was, as they described him - great, fantastic, brilliant, and wonderful - I was waiting for the person to bring out his crown. He teaches an anti-American class, Marxist in his interpretation of historical events and actions [my analysis based upon what he requires in reading and what I have culled from this person and several others who were his unwitting victims].

Summary of his teaching/argument:

Poor Osama, we declared war on him and he was defending himself because he had no other way to respond, and it was all our fault, and we trained him so we got all that blowback and its all our fault and we deserve to be punished for all the bad things we do/did to them.

[Amazing - you take 1/10 bit of truth and concoct 9/10 lie and people accept it because it is wrapped up in this mind-numbingly stupid argument - he is telling you what the media will not because they are all part of the conspiracy. And he learned what he learned from? Where? The Palestinian TV]

When I made a derogatory comment about the instructors usefulness to humanity and what should be done to him [a boot and his ass] - I was told I was 'closed minded'.

I have absolutely no time for such asinine comments or for anyone who believes such nonsense. Truly. If you ever want to push every wrong button - proceed down that road, because it is a sure fire way to get erased. I do not care who that instructor is, he is a waste of human life, a piece of rubbish of utterly no use to anyone, who, if he realized how wrong he was and that what he has been teaching is more dangerous than bin laden's propaganda he would do himself in - after recognizing what utter humiliation he has inflicted upon himself, his family, his country, and civilization. I wish I could introduce him to bin Laden, to watch as his head was cut off his body and carried about like a trophy. All the while he would have protested how he was really supporting bin Laden and respected him.

As for the person who I had dinner with - well, the dustbin awaits.

I cannot tolerate ignorance that exceeds that of a two year old. No matter who they are, we cannot waste time on people and things that consume energy.

There are moments I wish bin Laden prevailed, just so he could cull the population, and I know that among the first would be all those who spew forth the rubbish as presented above from the person in the class or their instructor.

Someone might say - what makes me so sure I am right, maybe they are, and maybe I am closed minded. I have spent over eight years evaluating every possible answer to that issue. I have looked at it from every side, and then found nuances that required evaluating. I have spent more time dealing with that single question than this person has spent on their entire education, and quite likely more time than the instructor has on any given subject. I started the analysis with my believing the Evil One and his cohorts were Robin Hood against the evil Sheriff. I started where the idiotic instructor now stands. I began with that premise and believed it from 1995 until 2001, longer than the instructor has taught any of his courses on the subject. Six years of believing, and not just believing but being able to argue every defense of the Evil One, and fully supporting him. Until 2001. Blowing up a military base or ship or ... was, for me, acceptable as long as it did not turn on civilian lives being lost.

I have considered that instructors arguments, long before he even knew he was making them, and I reject them.

Those who teach those lies are more dangerous than bin laden, for he has told us he wants to destroy us while they pretend to be one of us. He wants to change us - they claim to want to educate us. Bin Laden is honest in his purpose and goals, the purveyors of the lies are not.

In that way, I suppose, I still prefer bin laden - I know what he is, and what he wants. Instructors who teach Marxist theory, and take pieces of truth and wrap it in crap and sell it to students as the gospel of anti-Western thought ... they are a more serious threat.

Teenager burned trying to kill head lice with gas

Thu Feb 26, 11:52 am ET

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Police say a teenager who soaked her hair in gasoline to try to kill head lice was severely burned when the gas fumes ignited and set her head ablaze.

Eighteen-year-old Jessica Brooks was in serious condition Thursday at the burn unit at University Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She was burned Sunday night at her apartment in Evansville, Ind.

Police said Brooks was in her bathroom letting her hair soak in gasoline just before a pilot light from a water heater ignited the gas fumes and her hair.

Investigator Richard Howard said Brooks suffered second- and third-degree burns over more than half of her body.

Brooks was taking high school night classes in hopes of graduating this year.

Disgraceful Behavior

The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace
What must our enemies be thinking?

By JEFFREY SCOTT SHAPIRO

Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush. The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."

Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

The president's original Supreme Court choice of Harriet Miers alarmed Republicans, while his final nomination of Samuel Alito angered Democrats. His solutions to reform the immigration system alienated traditional conservatives, while his refusal to retreat in Iraq has enraged liberals who have unrealistic expectations about the challenges we face there.

It seems that no matter what Mr. Bush does, he is blamed for everything. He remains despised by the left while continuously disappointing the right.

Yet it should seem obvious that many of our country's current problems either existed long before Mr. Bush ever came to office, or are beyond his control. Perhaps if Americans stopped being so divisive, and congressional leaders came together to work with the president on some of these problems, he would actually have had a fighting chance of solving them.

Like the president said in his 2004 victory speech, "We have one country, one Constitution and one future that binds us. And when we come together and work together, there is no limit to the greatness of America."

To be sure, Mr. Bush is not completely alone. His low approval ratings put him in the good company of former Democratic President Harry S. Truman, whose own approval rating sank to 22% shortly before he left office. Despite Mr. Truman's low numbers, a 2005 Wall Street Journal poll found that he was ranked the seventh most popular president in history.

Just as Americans have gained perspective on how challenging Truman's presidency was in the wake of World War II, our country will recognize the hardship President Bush faced these past eight years -- and how extraordinary it was that he accomplished what he did in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems. He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.

Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty -- a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Mr. Shapiro is an investigative reporter and lawyer who previously interned with John F. Kerry's legal team during the presidential election in 2004.

Malaysian couple beaten to death in bizarre quit-smoking ritual

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - A Malaysian couple were beaten to death by family members in a bizarre ritual to cure them of a smoking habit and illnesses, reports said Friday.

A 15-year-old daughter of one of the four relatives who carried out the beating was also attacked after stumbling onto the scene and is fighting for her life in hospital.

Police spokesman Ku Chin Wah told the official Bernama news agency that the attack took place when Mohamed Ibrahim Kader Mydin, 47, and his wife Rosina Mydin Pillay, 41, visited their family on Thursday.

They mentioned that Mohamed Ibrahim was seeking help to stop his smoking habit, and that his wife was suffering from asthma and a liver ailment.

"Following this, a 23-year-old male relative suggested that the couple undergo a ritual which involved all family members joining forces to beat up the couple to rid them of their ailments," Ku told Bernama.

The four relatives smashed the couple's heads on a table and assaulted them with crash helmets and brooms, he said. An ambulance was called only hours later when they had not regained consciousness.

Whoppi - For Effect.

One of the most ignorant statements that I have heard from any actor/actress / celebrity:

Senator McCain was on The View on September 12, 2008 at or about 1:10pm, when Whoopi, the Constitutional scholar on the talk-show, piped up with the following stellar comment:

"Should I be worried about being a slave, about being returned to slavery because certain things happened in the Constitution that you had to change?"

Whoopi - you are a fool, and worse, you have allowed your bias to so warp your reality, you no longer function in the real world.

When McCain said it was a good question - he was wrong. It is an idiotic question, and he is silly for having told you otherwise.

Strict construction of the Constitution would not, could not, does not in any way, shape, or form lend itself to slavery or the support of slavery. Just the opposite.

You were a condescending fool. Suggesting, as you did, some deep analysis, as you blurted out your idiocy. You are not qualified to offer your voice as useful in any way on what the Constitution means. You may disagree with the interpretation of the nine justices who spend all their time analyzing the Constitution, but you do not have the academics to analyze, outside of providing your opinion, which when taken together with 300 million other opinions, are just that - opinions.

America's Left

The Europeanization of the Democratic Party

By William Moloney
Tuesday, August 19, 2008

In the 19th century Americans took very seriously Washington’s warning against “entangling alliances” which might interfere with the country’s unfolding “Manifest Destiny” of dynamic growth and expansion. A corollary to this belief was that the “Great American Democracy” was a unique-perhaps even divinely inspired-form of political organization vastly superior to the Old World’s tired regimes of aristocratic privilege and downtrodden masses.

In the 20th century America entered upon the world stage powerfully and decisively coming to the aid of embattled European democracies and leading them to victory in two world wars and the Cold War. Launching these extraordinary interventions were three memorable Democratic presidents - Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman.

Though American actions in the two centuries were starkly different - isolationism in the 19th, and intervention in the 20th - one compelling theme was constant: American Exceptionalism - a general notion that foreigners were a source of problems and Americans were a source of solutions. This attitude was often naïve, and jingoistic, but it provided a sturdy foundation for American patriotism through most of our history.

This enduring national consensus, however, collapsed during the “Perfect Storm” of the 1960s when a toxic brew of social, military and political convulsions tore gaping holes in the fabric of our national life - self-inflicted wounds that remain unhealed to this day.

Out of this turmoil there emerged a powerful body of left-wing opinion and activism that turned the old national consensus upside down. Rejecting Henry Clay’s “my country - right or wrong,” the left substituted “my country - always wrong.” More extreme elements declared their country to be the most oppressive society in history - racist at home and imperialist abroad - while discovering sublime virtues in genocidal tyrants from Mao Tse-Tung to Pol Pot.

While this raging ideological virus infected in varying degree a wide range of American institutions - e.g. media, academia - its principal victim was the national Democratic Party.
In less than a decade the party that boldly sponsored the Berlin airlift, the Marshall Plan, and the NATO alliance went from the confident activism of the hawkish John Kennedy - “pay any price, bear any burden to assure the success of liberty” - to the “Blame America First” defeatism of George McGovern - who aptly themed his 1972 acceptance speech as “Come Home, America.”

Betraying allies in Vietnam, ignoring genocide in Cambodia, accepting communist aggression from Angola to Afghanistan, and bowing to humiliation in Iran, America’s defense of liberty abroad was reduced to Carter’s pathetic gesture of boycotting the Moscow Olympics.

The sorry Democratic mismanagement of both economic and foreign policy led to a series of landslide Republican presidential victories and finally a decade of GOP congressional dominance. Yet, amazingly, none of these severe reality checks halted the Democrats' steady leftward drift.

To understand this hostile takeover of the Democratic Party it must be seen in the context of what happened to all “parties of the left” in Europe in the second half of the 20th century. Traumatized by the shocks and dislocations of world wars and Cold War the entire European political spectrum moved decisively leftward. While the socialist parties led this progression, the parties of the center and right - shaken by their own crises of confidence - succumbed as well. European capitalism and nationalism was decisively weakened and the door opened to a continent-wide shift to collectivism and the transnationalism represented by the United Nations, and the European Union.

Today the elitists who dominate the Democratic Party have embraced the “New Europe” and its worldview. On virtually every issue - Iraq, taxes, abortion, global warming, energy, hostility to religion, suspicion of Israel, regulation, U.N. worship etc. etc. - differences are only of degree, not kind.

The fawning reception of Barack Obama in Europe illustrated this perverse harmony. Clearly Obama’s view of the future fits with Europe’s. They see him as the anti-Bush, their best bet ever to lash “rambunctious” America to the collectivist chariot of Europe’s “Brave New World.”
While heir to Western Civilization, America has always stood apart in the degree of its faith, patriotism, individualism, opportunity, and vitality. Most basically the presidential election will decide whether this American Exceptionalism will endure or not. The Democratic Party has already given its answer. In November, ordinary Americans will give theirs.

Talk about DUMB - European schools and The End of the World

These people fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. Reading the article made me feel dumber.

I could use this post to deal exclusively with the dumbest people I have had the misfortune of reading about, or I could use it to deal with two points - the article and another, a failing of the left in this country to understand context.

If you ask a business person in Europe where a certain country is, they stand a reasonable chance of knowing. If you ask a business person (or college student or anyone) in the US where that country is, they may or may not know. The left uses this as proof that we, the American people are ignorant of the rest of the world (for that matter, the rest of the world holds this same view), yet they are arguing a non-sequitor - neither the argument nor the conclusion have any correlation to one another.

Here is why -

We are told how terrible our education system is. It is a failure, California or Oklahoma or Texas or Louisiana or some other state is at the bottom and ... we have a poorly educated citizenry - right and wrong. Our K-12 system is a miserable failure - we could start with teachers, unions, and curriculum, but that is another issue. Surprisingly, our collegiate level is superior to any on earth. We produce the brightest from our colleges and universities. The scientists and doctors, the science, and technology - all stem from US universities and US educated students. How do we reconcile the failed K-12 and the superior collegiate level - something happens, the professors, the material - something. Again, another story.

In Europe and Asia - beginning in 6th grade and then 9th (different countries begin their exams at different grade levels) - you start taking tests. Up through grade 7, you take history and math and algebra and science, but say you are inclined to baking and prefer cooking/baking - they will funnel you off starting by 8th and 9th into courses designed to develop your culinary arts. Then your final set of exams determines whether you go on to culinary arts college or finish and go home and bake bread. No choices are allowed - room to maneuver - very limited. It is what it is. Only the brightest of the bright go to university - perhaps equivalent to the top 10% in the US. At university you would study specific courses, not general education. you would study science and all courses would be related to science. No Psychology or sociology. In the US, we provide a general education through your 4th year, then you get specific for your Masters. They are specific when they start university (talk about knowing what you will be, before you are even 20). We allow room for maturity and development, for waste, for fun, for opportunity without seriousness, which ultimately reinforces our passion later. The Brits or french or Danes - no passion, just obligation.

Furthermore, only a select few can go to university (university = the US 4 year university, such as Harvard or UCLA or Yale). Not everyone can go. In the US we allow anyone who wants to, to go to college and if they have decent grades, they can move on to university. that option is not available in Europe or Asia (unless they come to the US).

So ... to answer the question of what country is such and such or where is such and such a country - you are asking individuals who have made it through the European collegiate system - equivalent to asking the top 10% of our college graduates. In that case, our top 10% would do much better.

On average, students I have given a world map quiz to (no names, just numbers and they must label them), get 30-35% of the countries correct. That is an overall average of college students. Some are top 10% and some are bottom 10%. In Europe, the number would be lower if we took the same sample group, if it were possible.

Now to the article - the whole Mayan 2012 end of the world issue ...

Sidebar:
I should throw in my opinion now - I do not believe December 2012 will be one iota different than January 2012. The Mayan built this calendar system over 1000 years ago. They made 1000 years worth of calendars and then stopped. Much like you folding napkins. At what point will you say you have enough and when you use up most, you will fold more? Maybe the Mayan who was doing the stone calendar died and they were looking for someone to take his position and decided it was no rush because the dead guy had made 1000 years already in advance.

Many Dutch prepare for 2012 apocalypse

Published: June 23, 2008 at 7:25 PM

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, June 23 (UPI) -- Thousands of people in the Netherlands say they expect the world to end in 2012, and many say they are taking precautions to prepare for the apocalypse.

The Dutch-language de Volkskrant newspaper said it spoke to thousands of believers in the impending end of civilization, and while theories on the supposed catastrophe varied, most tied the 2012 date to the end of the Mayan calendar, Radio Netherlands reported Monday.
De Volkskrant said many of those interviewed are stocking up on emergency supplies, including life rafts and other equipment.

[An ARK might be a better investment!]

Some who spoke to the newspaper were optimistic about the end of civilization.

"You know, maybe it's really not that bad that the Netherlands will be destroyed," Petra Faile said. "I don't like it here anymore. Take immigration, for example. They keep letting people in. And then we have to build more houses, which makes the Netherlands even heavier. The country will sink even lower, which will make the flooding worse."

************************************

Tokyo, New York ... should sink into the center of the earth if that female was correct.

Petra hit every branch, really really hard, but I bet she can probably find 45% of the countries of the world on a map. Doing better than dumb old Americans who are not as concerned about needing rafts.

What bloody difference does it make.

Hello Left Wingers - an FYI

I was just sent, although I have heard about it and read about it before, some photos of the female turned male now pregnant. Interesting and very odd.

For eight years, almost, I have had to listen to the barrage of personal attacks on Bush. So unfair. Like attacking someone with Downs Syndrome - he cannot respond due to his limited skill set, and you hammer away. There should be laws against that - oh, there are, you can't pick on the mentally impaired, which is what you all call Bush, yet you still do. Interesting. Especially given the fact you call yourselves humanistic or more humanistic. Silly of me to misunderstand what that meant.

For nearly eight years you have carped on Bush - he is an international insult you say, his cowboy attitudes have alienated us from the world.

I believe I have trounced this world view issue many times before - the world is unfit to stand in judgment of the US, for its closet is pitch and while ours may be dark, they lay waste to any notion of usefulness.

However, setting all that aside - two things:

1) Gay marriage
2) The person who is now pregnant and was a female and is a male

Those two issues have done more to destroy and lower respect for the US in the Arab and Muslim world than anything Bush has done in eight years. Bush could detonate a nuclear bomb and it would barely register higher than those two issues, barely.

So while you attack him, and on many issues, he deserves reproach, the two shining stars in your world view agenda, are what set us back in the Arab world more than any war in Iraq or Afghanistan, much, much more. The problem with this myopic view of yours is - you don't understand it, and that is a danger to all of us.

Oh Canada - Diaryland

To the unfortunate Canadian who suggested I look up stuff on wiki!!!!!

LOL.

As I posted on your page - the only people who use WIKIPEDIA are losers (the bulk) and those brighter sorts who only have half a second to find an answer, or something could happen to them, and being wrong is not worse than the alternative. In your case - you rely upon that unrelaible source. How unfortunate.

Now comes the proof. Boy do I dislike dumb people - and amusingly, the infant child who posted on your site about how dumb people are! geesh. You were wrong and she was two branches further down the stupid tree. You have never elected a woman Prime Minister! Perhaps all that cold has caused a permanent brain freeze!!

Falling exam passes blamed on Wikipedia 'littered with inaccuracies'

Published Date: 21 June 2008
By MARTYN McLAUGHLIN

WIKIPEDIA and other online research sources were yesterday blamed for Scotland's falling exam pass rates.

The Scottish Parent Teacher Council (SPTC) said pupils are turning to websites and internet resources that contain inaccurate or deliberately misleading information before passing it off as their own work.
