100,000 Police Officers On the Street

WASHINGTON -- New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, campaigning for president in a neighborhood of Philadelphia so rough the mayor said, "Osama bin Laden wouldn't last here," pitched a $4-billion-a-year anti-crime package today that would put 100,000 new police officers on the streets and help stem the tide of repeat offenders back into the country's prisons.

The issue I have with this is ... her husband promised 100,000 police officers on the street. Do we need another 100,000. When officers left, did they not hire new ones to keep the number over 100,000? In fact, do research, you will find Bill Clinton arguing for 100,000 new officers and the funds for them, if only you support him. What happened to the 100,000 officers he promised?? It might be worth finding out, because the same will happen to this new 100,000 promise by Hillary. Even without a promise, the police forces across America add tens of thousands each year. She isn't promising you anything more than what already occurs.

That's the best promise - the one that is self-fulfilling without you doing a darned thing.
