When children kill

Among the opponents to the death penalty, the majority of them, if not all, will argue that if you commit a crime when you are underage, you should not be held to adult standards. There is some grey area on the age issue, but generally the above position is the usual one heard by anti-death penalty opponents, even if the issue isn't a death penalty case.

Rather, it is whether someone under 18 should be tried as an adult.

I think the answer is yes.

LOS ANGELES -

A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to murder on the day his jury trial was set to begin Tuesday for the shooting deaths of two men last year, authorities said.

Evan Joel Alfred pleaded guilty to two counts of murder with special circumstances, one count of second-degree robbery and one count of attempting to dissuade a witness.

Alfred was sitting in the back seat of a Cadillac on June 25, 2007 when he shot the driver in the back of the head then twice shot a front-seat passenger as he attempted to flee, authorities said.
