Obama's Superpower comment

"It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them," Obama said. "And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure."

Obama, week of April 12, 2010

Whether we LIKE IT OR NOT .... there are not many choices Obama.  We are because we must be, not because one day we decided we should pump up on steroids.  The wretched mess that exists is enough reason to remain a super power.  And yes, I agree, it is necessary to resolve the conflicts, albeit, they are not in our national security interests, but rather, are of import for more reasons than simply security.
