The One and His Economy

The One celebrated what He argued was a decline in the Unemployment numbers - a sign that his Wizardry was certainly working.  Figures released Friday showed 85,000 more people lost their jobs, but the unemployment figure remained at about 10%.

Now how can that be?  According to a Bloomberg column by Bob Willis "About 1.7 million Americans opted out of the workforce from July through December, representing a 1.1 percent drop that marks the biggest six-month decrease since 1961."

And if we were to include workers who have taken part time jobs, but still want full time, and add them to the workers who aban doned the system, we get a real unemployment rate of just under17.5 percent.

17.5 percent.

Now that is an accomplishment of The One, after the more than a trillion spent on stimulus.

(During the depression we hit around 24-27%.  In some cities the percentage now is much higher than 17.5%.  For some groups, it is nearing the 20%+ range.)
