Brazil: We Want Nukes

Once it starts, where does it stop.

Iran.

Brazil now wants nuclear weapons and while the article marginalizes the vice president's voice, his statement echoes that of many, within the party holding power, through all the corridors of power in Brazil ... even if they do not say it.

WHO does Brazil need to protect itself from?

Who? Honestly, tell me who.

You need a nuclear bomb to protect yourself against ... Uruguay? or Ecudaor? or Bolivia? What, the drug dealers will stop because you will nuke them? I am sure Brazil is worried about Chile marching over the Andes to invade and take trees.

Come on.

Get serious. Protect itself?

It has large martime holdings and so if a navy from say ... the UK were to offend Brazil, what then - Brazil will drop a nuke on a ship, ending all martime activity for 100 years, and solving Brazil's worry. is that it? Or putting the nuke on a ship and sailing it back to the UK to throw it at them. OR would Brazil then need missile capability to deliver the weapon to the UK or the US. And be honest, they want the nuke to be taken seriously - like Amadinejad. To threaten and swagger is their desire.

So Mr. Obama, whatcha gonne give Brazil to keep them quiet for the next year or two!!

Brazil VP says country should build nuclear arms

Sep 25, 2009

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) - Brazil's vice president says his country should develop nuclear weapons.

Jose Alencar says "a nuclear weapon has great importance" to prevent attacks on Brazil because of its extensive borders and maritime holdings. Alencar tells Brazilian newspapers that Brazil doesn't have a program to develop nuclear weapons, but should.

Alencar's influence is relatively limited and he is not a member of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's party. Brazilian officials insist they are developing nuclear energy only for peaceful means.
Alencar aide Adriano Silva confirms the comments published Friday by newspapers including O Globo and O Estado de Sao Paulo. He says they are personal opinions and not a position of the government.
