Obama's teleprompter hits the trail
(CNN) — It appears Barack Obama's teleprompter is hitting the campaign trail.
The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn't use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.
But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday — making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.
***********************************
The issue is not that he uses a teleprompter, but he argues he is an agent for change, he is different than those in Washington who have gone before him, yet in every way he is the same. His supporters are excited by his ability to speak ... yet his ability to speak is .... near non-existent. He does not speak well without his teleprompter.
McCain may need cards for his speeches, but he speaks fine in townhall-type arenas, Obama does not. Palin speaks fine in small forums without a teleprompter, Obama does not.
That exhilerating speaking ability of his - fashioned to large audiences in large arenas, but is not a skill, it is learned and rehersed each time, unlike Clinton who made it look like he was slipping an intern out of her dress without her even knowing it, unlike Reagan who could take the moment and add humor and carry on. Obama is strained to speak in public without it - he does not even do that (speaking) well, unless he is told what to say.
He is an empty suit ... and there are indicators.
