I recall in 7th grade having sex education. By the early 1980s, it was everywhere - special classes on specific diseases, posters, radio, TV. I remember, vaguely, a movie with Tony Geary, (I remember him from Luke and Laura on General Hospital) in a TV movie about herpes. The information was everywhere. By the mid 1980s, demand son the Reagan administration to dramatically increase funding and programs on sex education. NEW YORK (AP) — A city Health Department study finds that more than a fourth of adult New Yorkers are infected with the virus that causes genital herpes.
The study, released Monday, says about 26 percent of New York City adults have genital herpes, compared to about 19 percent nationwide.

Makes you wonder. I'd rather spend the money on something that actually accomplishes something. Apparently all this money has not helped a lot, especially in New York.
