Useless Canadian Ideas

What follows is a letter written to the editor of the newspaper also listed below.
The author did write his name in the Canadian newspaper, but I have chosen to remove it. Protect the stupid, in a way. I do not have the same qualms about the tosser from England, but people who are ignorant are different than people who are rude.

I have no doubt the person who wrote the letter honestly believes what he wrote, despite the fact he is a moron, and wrong - but it is because of people like him, that we are always at war and or take so long to prevail against evil. I do not like war, in fact, no one in the US or Canada likes or wants war. The war drum beats he hears are because of fools like him who wish to pacify those who wish to kill him, and put us into a position of war.

'Drumbeat of war'
The Leader-Post

Published: Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Behind the images that flash every second, the news stories that tell half-truths at best and the talking heads and columnists who create an impression that is the opposite of the truth, we in the "free world" hear the incessant drumbeat of war.

We are always at war. We have been sending the troops off to slaughter our enemies for centuries. In the 20th century, the troops defended us from all these people: the Germans, the Turks, the Japanese, the Russians, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Vietnamese, the Laotians, the Cambodians and the Iraqis. Al Qaeda was conjured after 9/11.

It was an enemy that had no face, no country, nothing tangible. Defeating this new enemy would require perpetual war. War without end would be our future. Now, we have to bomb and invade Iran so the world and democracy will be safe. The only constant is us, and the military-industrial complex we support.

Iran, North Korea, and all of our other enemies combined spend less than one per cent of what we spend on war. They are a threat to us? Who are we kidding? How dumb are we anyway?
Oh, here is the kicker: We have not won a war in 63 years, despite the trillions that have been spent.
