Obama says has reached delegate milestone in Democratic race

DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama told supporters on Tuesday he was close to winning the party's U.S. presidential nomination and had secured a majority of the delegates elected in state-by-state nominating contests.
Obama, who has fought a grueling battle with Hillary Clinton for the right to run against Republican John McCain in November's election, sounded a victorious note after contests in Kentucky and Oregon.
Obama told a cheering crowd in Iowa -- the state that propelled his underdog candidacy by giving him a win in the first nominating contest in January -- that the nomination was now in sight.
"We have returned to Iowa with a majority of delegates elected by the American people," said the Illinois senator. "You have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for president of the United States."
Obama lost in Kentucky on Tuesday but was aiming for victory in Oregon.
Neither Obama nor Clinton, a New York senator, will have the number of delegates needed to claim the nomination when the state-by-state contests end on June 3 with contests in Montana and South Dakota.
But Obama expects super delegates -- party leaders and elected officials who have their own vote at the party's convention in August -- to line up behind him now.

"We are united in our desire to take back this country"
Seantor, what does this mean.
We = you or you and 75,000 lemurs or you and what, 30%, 40%, 50% of the country?
Technically you can use WE if you have a few people on your side, but is it still WE when you have less than 50% Is that a WE?
united = joined together like lemurs en masse jumping over the cliffs to the ocean below. United in a common cause.
Desire = emotion linked to desire, lust, bordering on obsession
TAKE BACK = take it back from whom Mr. Obama, the other 50%? You do play with your words and mix everything up to make it seem like you are on the side of 99% against that 1% who have control of Washington - like Rezko maybe. You Senator are not immune from these lobbyists - isn't that what your argument is - take it back from the lobbyists. When did they get to DC, Senator - when did the lobbyists take control? 2001, 2002, 1998, 1996, 1990, 1980 ? When??? We should define what we mean because loose meanings are not useful for people like me who like to know exactly what the word means.
COUNTRY - this I assume is the US, but it seems Senator, from your effort with a previously discussed Senate bill, you would like to turn us over to the UN. .5% tax on GDP to prevent world poverty ... the single stupidest idea since a helium balloon as transportation.
Senator, you don't get to take this country back from anyone to give it to the UN or the world body to dictate. Americans do not wish to listen to the world about what we can and cannot do. Only a naive simpleton would suggest such a stupid idea.
