When someone tells you that you are stupid or dumb and worthless, it is not a moment or lapse, it is their behavior (that is another issue) and if they say this enough, as a child, a teen, an adult ... you will believe it, even if you are the brightest brick on the wall and the most worthwhile human being to ever live. You will have serious issues with identity and self worth. Say it enough and it is so. Why do women, bright, educated, professional women remain with abusive men. They may be all those things but they have low self-worth. Trace it back and quite likely they will have been treated badly and made to feel unworthy of being treated well.
Like polls, people believe them simply because they are, in a sense, self-fulfilling.
Now, poll wording.
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
When did you stop visiting prostitutes?
Do you believe you are happier today than last year?
Do you feel like you are doing as well today, as you were, economically, four years ago?
Do you believe we spend too much money wastefully (in the budget)?
Do you believe we should cut defense spending?
Do you not agree that there is a great deal of waste in the defense budget?
Wouldn't it be fair to cut that waste from the budget?
So you are in favor of cutting the defense budget?
(You may substitute social programs, immigration, welfare, education for defense. You will get the same result.)
Are you happy with the government?
This one is interesting.
Democrats will say NO because Bush and those evil Retardicans have prevented the progressive programs the Democrats would like to implement. Democrats just want to help everyone and the evil retardicans prevent that help.
Republicans will say NO because the majority party - Losercrats, have prevented all the Bush programs, will not hold hearings on his court appointments, and otherwise cause great distress to the country and prevent Republicans programs from helping everyone.
Therefore, NO ONE is happy with government.
You report that as a conclusion in your poll - NO ONE LIKES THE ADMINISTRATION/BUSH.
That isn't exactly accurate though is it! It is technically but it isn't really.
That unfortunate side effect, does not matter to those who do the polls, nor to those who report the poll du jour, as selected by them. In this case, the NY Times. April 3, 2008. NYTimes.
In the poll, 81 percent of respondents said they believed that “things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track,” up from 69 percent a year ago and 35 percent in early 2003.
Although the public mood has been darkening since the early days of the war in Iraq, it has taken a new turn for the worse in the last few months, as the economy has seemed to slip into recession. There is now nearly a national consensus that the country faces significant problems.
A majority of nearly every demographic and political group — Democrats and Republicans, men and women, residents of cities and rural areas, college graduates and those who finished only high school — say that the United States is headed in the wrong direction. Seventy-eight percent of respondents said the country was worse off than five years ago; just 4 percent said it was better off.
WITHOUT A QUESTION.
Happy Polling!!
