On Thursday evening, March 6, 2008, a murderer walked in to Mercaz Harav Yeshiva and shot dead: Yohai Lifshitz, 18. Neria Cohen, 15. Segev Peniel Avihail, 15. Avraham Moses, 16. Yonatan Eldar, 16. Yonadav Hirschfeld, 19. Kohav Hashahar, 18. Roee Roth, 18.

The attack on this place - Mercaz Harav Yeshiva was a planned and purposeful attack with one goal in mind. Who was killed, their backgrounds, who attends the Yeshiva, and what does an attack of this nature say to the community that attends, has attended, and will attend the Yeshiva.
This is not an issue of what IDF soldiers may have done last week or last month, but what these young men had no part of yet were killed for being - a Jew.
The hate is so great and so deeply twisted, it is beyond discussing and understanding. It has become in recent years about death and nothing more.
Each day approximately ten rockets are fired in to Israel. Hamas is responsible. Angels or fairy's do not fire rockets. Hamas and Hezbollah use rockets, fairy's use fairy dust. 4500 rockets have been fired in to Israel since Israel up and left Gaza nearly two years ago.
What have we seen happen in Gaza since 2005 - Hamas went on a killing spree leaving hundreds dead in an attempt to eradicate all FATAH members, the rocket attacks on Israel, attacks on Jews in Jerusalem, invasion of Egypt by the Palestinians and then secreted in to Israel to attack and kill. We have seen NO positive efforts by Hamas or anyone else toward rebuilding anything let alone responsible behavior toward peace.
Palestinian families put out Hamas flags and hand out sweets when their sons blow themselves up or otherwise are killed in the process of killing innocent men, women, and children. They celebrate the murders and glorify death. They speak of their sons and babies being old enough to die killing zionists. There is nothing about the Palestinians that involves life. Everything is death.
It is ironic that when the Israelis give them what they want - death, they become enraged and threaten holy hell upon the zionist Jews. yet their sons can strap dynamite to their bodies and blow up a school bus and they hand out sweets.
WHEN PALESTINIANS UNDERSTAND THE DISTINCTION I have made in the preceding two paragraphs, WHEN THEY do, at that moment when they desire life and not death, peace can be had with Israel. Until then, Palestinians have asked that death be their life.
Israeli soldiers do NOT go in to Gaza or the West Bank with an intent and desire to kill innocent men, women, and children. Unfortunately, the murdering scum who want their brethren to go to Allah and have the virgins, run and hide under old women's skirts and in schools and playgrounds where many children are congregated, knowing that the IDF will not attack children, yet these martyrs will use the children as shields to permit them to kill IDF soldiers. How very Muslim of them.
My view on this does not come from what silly people will call zionist propaganda, rather, I believed the Palestinians were entitled to their own state and not one that resembled a quilt comprised of dozens of patches and none connected, all disjointed. I did not agree with OSLO / OSLO II. I believed that the Palestinians deserved a contiguous homeland. I believed that the Israelis needed to unilaterally leave Gaza (and they did) and turn over the entire West Bank to the Palestinians. I believed that it could be achieved if Israel gave a little more than it got back, if it tolerated the idiotic ramblings of mullahs and other lesser beings.
Today I do not. Today I believe Israel must clean out the nest of death. The rockets must stop and those that perpetuate this cycle of death must be stopped. There is a moral difference between what the IDF do when they go searching for someone and end up in a gun fight with the killers hiding behind children, and innocents are killed; and what happened on Thursday.
When you have decided that you would like to live in peace, and not die in vain, Israel may try again.

Left-wing activist and former prisoner, Tali Fahima, on Tuesday visited the east Jerusalem mourning tent erected by the family of the gunmen who killed eight students in Thursday's shooting spree at Mercaz Harav Yeshiva.
"I was with the family and I have no doubt that the Israeli security forces are mainly just exacerbating [the situation], and causing civilians to be killed - like the yeshiva students, because of the years-long policy of occupation," Fahima told Israel Radio
She went on to say that she would quite happily visit the families of the slain yeshiva students, but she feared for her life. "If I arrived there they would kill me."

I couldn't imagine why. It is always the right that want to kill open-minded people like herself. Then again, Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam and paraded around like a whore in heels and the North Vietnam didn't touch her either.
