Such a great phrase, uttered by one of the usual retardicans. A great catchphrase for the fall (2008) campaign - every time he speaks simply insert '100 year war' and watch him begin to burn. Push his buttons long enough and he'll blow and then sit back and film it for the earliest news time slot available.
Before you get the camera out, we should have a few foundational rules on what words mean to save you the time tripping over your tongue as you rush out to meet the retardican at some speech stop.
When Hillary says she was ducking bullets on her arrival - it is not a code word for anything. It does not mean she was confused by some other moment of arrival and simply messed up on the place. She was never under fire (nor would you place your daughter in that sort of jeopardy) at any time during her eight years, until she went before the grand jury to tell her version of the facts. She was not confused. She did not misstate. She did not slightly exaggerate. She lied.
McCain did not say we will be in a war for 100 years. He did not say we will even be in Iraq in 100 years. He did say that we have a security relationship with Iraq and must, to assist Iraq against foreign invaders and or internal disintegration, and that this failure in Iraq will require us to assist Iraq for a very long time. Putting numbers on things - 100 years, which for anyone is a VERY long time.
That is what McCain meant. That is the case for McCain as president or Clinton or even Obama. The next president and the ten or eleven who follow him will be required to factor in Iraq in any military equation. It will not even be a choice. Obama or Clinton may try to outdo each other in terms of who will pull troops out first or who will pull all combat troops out first or who will pull out ALL troops first ... but they know (and hope you never understand) they cannot remove all American troops and will not for the foreseeable future.
On second thought, forget the camera, the 100 years War has already been explained and only the brain dead will not understand the explanation, and wish to propel this non-issue forward well past its 'use by' date.
