Biden's taxes

Recent news reports on Joe Biden, the nominee for vice president on the Democrat ticket, quote him as saying raising taxes on the rich is the "patriotic" thing to do and he now states that "Catholic social doctrine, as I was taught it is, you take care of people who need the help the most."
According to a Wall Street Journal editorial, the Bidens released their tax returns and reported an average of $380 or 0.2 percent of their income in annual charitable contributions over a 10-year period. The national average of personal giving was 2 percent of income. Perhaps more generosity on his part would have put more food into the Delaware local food bank or provided more scholarships for needy students, or funded a homeless shelter. Interesting that he prefers to take more of your money in taxes to take care of people who need help the most, rather than give his money to charities who act daily to give help to people who need it the most. To paraphrase an often quoted line: In his view, what's his is his and what's ours is also his.
