Dear Losercrats,
The following is a perfect example of what is wrong with you. For 7 years Bush used 'signing statements' to do, not quite as the article states, but reasonably close. Bush was attacked, repeatedly for using SIGNING STATEMENTS.
Obama attacked the Bush administration for his use of 'signing statements' in dealing with issues on terror. Obama claimed they were unconstitutional. This analysis was not based upon any Supreme Court opinions, rather this epiphany was one shared by many Democrats. It is amazing that one party can have so many Constitutional scholars in it. I am deeply relieved, our Republic is safe. Obama says his administration will not follow any of Bush's 'signing statements' unless his Attorney General signs off on them - this would show Obama to be careful and judicious, not impetuous. Except Obama turned around and has done his own 'signing statements' and in all likelihood, consulted the same guy (Holder) he now wants to go to about Bush's signing statements, who presumably will strike down many. Holder did not strike down Obama's orders - presumably because they are Constitutional ... except, you have to believe that no one at the Bush White House followed Constitutional protocol, was ignorant of or ignored the Constitution, and no one who followed the statements thought to raise a legal challenge (meaning the DEMOCRATIC PARTY - which includes OBAMA). Amazing that for Obama, everything Bush did is questionable, but it wasn't what Bush 'signed' it was the fact he was 'signing' that caused the Democrats to go apoplectic.
HYPOCRITES!
On another potentially controversial matter, the president also issued a "signing statement" with the bill, saying several of its provisions raised constitutional concerns and would be taken merely as suggestions. He has criticized President George W. Bush for often using such statements to claim the right to ignore portions of new laws, and on Monday he said his administration wouldn't follow those issued by Bush unless authorized by the new attorney general.
White House officials have accused Bush of using the statements to get around Congress in pursuing anti-terror tactics.
