Obama: Leon for CIA

In his public comments, Mr. Obama defended Mr. Panetta's qualifications, calling him "one of the finest public servants that we've had" who "brings extraordinary management skills, great political savvy, [and] an impeccable record of integrity." As chief of staff to President Clinton, Mr. Panetta was steeped in international affairs as well as crisis management and "had to evaluate intelligence consistently on a day-to-day basis," Mr. Obama added.

Let's consider this carefully - he served in congress from 1977 to 1993. Never did he have anything to do with serving on intelligence committees. He then served as White House Chief of Staff to Bill.

And Obama says that Leon is steeped in international affairs (as a result of his days as Chief of Staff).

Carl Rove could have been CIA Director.

Josh Bolten could be CIA Director.

Andrew Card could be CIA Director.

John Podesta could be CIA Director.

Erskine Bowles could be CIA Director.

They all were steeped in international affairs, they all had experience, they were all fine public servants (depending on which side of the political fence you sit on).

Or is Leon being touted for the position to bring CIA under control - to filter information and before anything is told to the president, has to be verified and re-verified and ... hmm, just what they do today. Yet, it is for the opposite reason Obama wants Leon - to break with the past, as if the past was Bush calling CIA up and CIA asking him what he wanted to hear, Bush would tell them and CIA would print it up and send it over as their report to him.

THAT is what Obama believes has been the case. And what he is doing now - revolves entirely around undoing that which he believes has been happening - which it has not.

Naive and dangerous.

As for Leon dismantling CIA or reining in CIA ... won't happen, can't happen - because CIA is not that easily manipulated. It outlasts a president, every president.

What it does show is how misled, misinformed, and arrogant these people are.

And THAT is bad for the United States.
