A leading Russian political analyst has said the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the country is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts.
Professor Igor Panarin said in an interview with the respected daily IZVESTIA published on Monday: "The dollar is not secured by anything. The country's foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse."
The paper said Panarin's dire predictions for the U.S. economy, initially made at an international conference in Australia 10 years ago at a time when the economy appeared strong, have been given more credence by this year's events.
Panarin, 60, is a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has authored several books on information warfare.

- I sure hope he isn't teaching students.
- I hope he has made large bets on his prediction. It will be nice to watch him lose everything.
- In years of doing what i do, I have never read anything so absolutely moronic. In reading his ramblings, I felt stupider for having bothered / wasted my time. He is a fool and the readers of Izvestia are stupider for having read his lunacy.
What is worse - someone from the Russian Foreign Ministry is so far off about the US political system, so ignorant of our system, so ignorant of how we function - they have no one brighter in Russia? We are in deep trouble for they will test our new inexperienced, and naive president and no one will have a clue. How bloody dangerous that will be for the world.
Mind numbingly stupid. Rock hard stupid. Dumber than dirt. Dumber than shit. Stupider than shit. More ignorant than a roomful of AirAmerica listeners.
Never bet on the US failing at anything (no matter how much you ... ah ... pray)
Take a few little nuggets of truth, sprinkle with a lot of exageration, add a lot of falsehoods/wishes/hopes, and combine to form a fantasy story that rivals Middle Earth.
Igor whatever his name - one of the absolutely stupidest, moronic people I have ever read anything quoted from. he is, one of the dumbest people. His view of the US political system shows that the Russian leadership is seriously lacking in a basic understanding of the American government and our system. This is more serious than what may first appear - when the Russian Foreign Ministry believes the US is lacking in a cohesive national legal system or political system, they will act upon that false premise ... and it will place the two countries on a collision course with the Russians certain the US will flinch ... and we will not.
Besides - a major newspaper reproducing his statements for a public too ignorant to understand that he and other experts are dumber than dirt ... does not bode well.
I would rather the American public be unable to find any countries on a world map and not be as rock hard stupid as this man and the millions who read and believe him.
