"President Barack Obama has given up on tough UN Security Council sanctions on Iran over its nuclear drive, and gone back on the longstanding American commitment assuring Israel of recognized and defensible borders in any future accommodation with its Arab neighbors.
In congratulating Israel on its 62nd Day of Independence, US Secretary of state Hillary Clinton mentions "recognized borders" while omitting the traditional qualifier "defensible.""
Mr. Obama has given up on sanctions - so much for talking and diplomacy - the argument made for years about Iraq.
Obama has now accepted as a fait accompli, Iran possessing nuclear weapons.
Obama has also made it known, although there is a bitter battle within his administration, that the US will or will not use a military strike to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. The administration has made statements that contradict statements made by the Pentagon.
So - sitting down with people we disagree with has worked out .... exactly how?
Oh wait, Iran never sat down .....
And the US continues to look foolish. Perhaps the world likes us more because we are as bumbling and fumbling and as inept as they are, but we are certainly not respected. We are laughed at.
