The One Eyed Monster

... is coming to America. The British government has agreed to send Abu Hamza al-Masri to the US.

He is a colorful character - had his hands blown off accidentally along with losing one eye (hence the one-eyed monster). He gravitated to Afghanistan in 1987 (not to see bin laden but rather the fellow who was actually running things - Sheikh Abdullah Azzam), and he will of course become a cause celebre for the left wing loonies who claim we arrest without cause and imprison poor and innocent people.

I will grant them the fact he is poor, but far from innocent. He celebrated the September 11 attacks, permitted supporters of the attacks to stay in his mosque in London, aggitated the populace against the US and the West, had given support to the London bombers, supported attacks in Algeria, and was eventually arrested in Britain for soliciting murder, stirring up racial hatred and a number of lesser charges for which he was sentenced to seven years.

The US requested he be extradited and that request was approved in February 2008. Now this one-eyed monster will be coming to a Courtroom near us ... New York or Los Angeles, perhaps Virginia, but unlikely.

Rather than shipping him off to Guantanamo Bay, he will be kept in a US prison where he will a) collect followers who will act on his every wish, b) instigate violence, and c) place American lives at risk by virtue of his presence in an American jail.

When this happens - thank the Democrats. It may be a year or two or three or five, but when it happens, it is the responsibility of the Democratic congress.
